SIEMENS CABRAL platform - from concept to system solution

Scope:
Development and production of a complete cladding system for the Siemens MRI platform family, comprising 25 main assemblies manufactured using SMC hot pressing, rigid PUR, twin-sheet forming, injection moulding, and other complementary technologies.

Design & Engineering:
ROMAY supported the customer throughout the design phase, evaluating alternative materials and production processes. Following final design approval, ROMAY Engineering developed the technical concepts for each component, focusing on structural integrity, cost efficiency, and optimized assembly methods to reduce production time.

Tooling & Manufacturing:
Multiple tools were developed across various technologies, including combination tools for components of different lengths. Series production integrates SMC hot pressing, aluminium casting, and viscoelastic polyurethane parts, with all visible surfaces finished on ROMAY’s automated painting lines.

Supply Chain & Assembly:
Procurement and supply of an extensive range of sourced parts were coordinated through ROMAY’s integrated supply chain. Final assembly takes place on a dedicated line, with deliveries to the customer’s site handled via returnable and disposable packaging systems.

Result:
The high structural rigidity of the SMC components enabled a simplified substructure and efficient installation concept using concealed connectors — ensuring precision, durability, and ease of assembly.
